The Simmons Venture laser rangefinder is no exception and offers versatility on the range or in the great outdoors. Its ergonomic design allows for quick target acquisition without getting lost in its operation. In addition, in this reference (SVL620BT), this Venture laser rangefinder is equipped with TILT technology, which calculates true horizontal distances for those shots with steep angles, giving you uninterrupted accuracy at all times. The SIMMONS rangefinder emits invisible infrared pulses of energy which, under normal conditions of use, are not harmful to the eye. Its digital technology calculates distances instantly by measuring the time it takes for each pulse to travel from the rangefinder to the target and back. The accuracy range of the SIMMONS rangefinder is plus or minus 1 m in most circumstances. The maximum range of this device depends on the reflectivity of the target. The maximum distance for most objects is 400 yards / 366 metres, while for highly reflective objects the maximum is 600 yards / 549 metres. The unit is easily configurable in both yards and metres. Both longer and shorter maximum distances can be measured, depending on the reflective properties of the target and the environmental conditions in which the measurement is made. The colour and its brightness level, the surface finish, the size and shape of the target affect the reflectivity and therefore the maximum distance calculation. The brighter the colour, the greater the distance it is able to calculate. Red is very reflective, for example, and supports longer distances than e.g. black, which is the least reflective colour. A glossy finish gives a longer range than a matt finish. A smaller target is more difficult to measure than a large one. The angle to the target also has an effect. Aiming at a target at a 90 degree angle (where the target surface is perpendicular to the flight path of the emitted energy pulses) provides good range while a sharp angle, on the other hand, provides limited range. In addition, lighting conditions (e.g. the amount of sunlight) will affect the range capability of the unit. The less light (overcast skies) the further the maximum range of the unit will be. Conversely, sunny days will decrease the maximum range of the unit. The operation is very simple and is reduced to a single button. Just press the button to turn the unit on and display the internal LCD inview screen. Then just aim at the target, at least 10 yards away, and hold down the single button until the measurement is displayed, when you release the button. Once activated, the LCD of the SIMMONS rangefinder will be active and will display the last distance measured for 30 seconds. You can press the power button again to measure a new target. As with any laser device, it is not recommended to look directly at the emissions for long periods of time with magnifying lenses.
