FX Airguns PCP air rifles: precision, regulation and configuration
FX Airguns PCP air rifles combine different layouts, air cylinders, regulator systems and barrel configurations. The Swedish manufacturer develops platforms such as the Impact, Maverick, Panthera, Dynamic, DRS, Crown, Wildcat and Dreamline, each offering a distinct approach to ergonomics and adjustment.
This category contains the FX Airguns PCP air rifles available at CARBIN. To compare them with models from other manufacturers, browse our wider selection of PCP air rifles. This technology forms part of our complete range of air rifles.
If you are looking for magazines, sound moderators, pressure gauges, chronographs, gun cases or other equipment from the manufacturer, visit our complete FX Airguns and accessories range.
Choosing an FX is not simply a matter of comparing power or muzzle velocity. Depending on the model and version, the air cylinder, regulator arrangement, plenum volume, barrel system, liner, magazine, ergonomics and available adjustments may all differ. If you would first like to understand pre-charged pneumatic technology, read our complete PCP air rifle guide.
Which FX Airguns PCP air rifle should you choose?
The different FX families follow distinct design concepts. Some prioritise extensive adjustment, while others focus on compact dimensions, traditional rifle ergonomics or a platform designed around precision shooting. The choice should be based on the complete platform rather than a single feature.
| Family | Configuration | Main difference | Worth considering if... |
|---|---|---|---|
| Impact M4 | Modular PCP platform | Extensive adjustment and configuration options | You want control over several platform settings |
| Maverick | Adjustable bullpup platform | Compact layout with an external air cylinder | You want compact dimensions and useful adjustment potential |
| Panthera and Dynamic | Sport-oriented PCP platforms | Different air-cylinder, barrel and configuration options | You prioritise a platform designed for tuning and precision shooting |
| DRS | Traditionally styled PCP | High-pressure air cylinder positioned around the barrel | You prefer a silhouette closer to that of a conventional air rifle |
| Crown | Sporter-style PCP | FX technology combined with a traditional stock | You value conventional handling and shooting position |
| Wildcat | Bullpup | Compact overall length | Handling and compactness are especially important |
| Dreamline | Modular platform | Different stock and layout options | You want to choose between Classic, Tactical and Bullpup formats |
Availability and technical specifications may vary by generation, calibre and version. Always check the details of the exact product variant before comparing two models.
Regulators, plenum volume and air management
Controlled air management is a central part of FX technology. Depending on the platform, different regulator arrangements, plenum volumes and adjustment controls influence how compressed air is delivered to the valve.
The objective of tuning is not necessarily to produce the highest possible velocity. A useful setup balances regulator pressure, air volume, calibre, projectile weight and the required shooting behaviour.
Changing one setting may affect other parts of the system. Higher pressure, for example, does not automatically produce a smaller group. The complete configuration should suit the projectile, the output of the particular version and the intended type of shooting.
Smooth Twist, STX and FX barrel liners
FX Airguns has developed several generations of Smooth Twist barrels and STX systems. On selected platforms, an interchangeable barrel liner forms part of the barrel assembly and can be matched to different projectile types and configurations.
Changing the liner should not automatically be treated as a complete calibre conversion. Depending on the model, changing calibre may also require a different barrel assembly, pellet probe, magazine and other platform-specific components.
Compatibility must always be checked against the exact family, generation, barrel length, calibre and version. Not every liner or conversion kit is interchangeable between different FX platforms.
Pellets and slugs for FX Airguns
FX air rifles may use diabolo pellets or slugs when the barrel, liner, magazine and setup are compatible. A slug, however, does not automatically produce better groups than a conventional diabolo pellet.
Projectile weight, actual diameter, length and profile all affect performance. Velocity, regulator pressure, barrel-liner characteristics, system stability and shooting distance also influence the result.
The most suitable ammunition should be established by testing it in the individual air rifle. Compare several compatible projectiles while keeping the distance, rest and rifle settings consistent.
For different configurations, browse our 5.5 mm (.22) pellets and 6.35 mm (.25) pellets and slugs. Always check that the projectile is compatible with the calibre, magazine, liner and exact setup of the air rifle.
FX magazines: check the model, generation and calibre
FX uses different rotary magazines across its platforms, generations and calibres. Even within one family, capacity, dimensions, retention system and maximum projectile length may vary.
A replacement magazine should not be selected on the FX Airguns name alone. Before ordering, check:
- The exact air rifle model.
- The generation or version.
- The calibre.
- The magazine capacity.
- The maximum permitted pellet or slug length.
- Compatibility with the breech and feeding system.
If you require an additional or replacement magazine, browse our selection of PCP and multi-shot air rifle magazines. Always check the model, generation and calibre before choosing.
Which calibre should you choose for an FX Airguns PCP?
FX platforms are offered in several calibres depending on the model, version and market. Not every family is available in every calibre or barrel length, and not every version supports the same configurations.
| Calibre | General characteristics | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| 4.5 mm (.177) | Lighter projectiles and generally a flatter trajectory at comparable muzzle energy | Model, liner, projectile weight and setup |
| 5.5 mm (.22) | A widely used calibre across PCP air rifles | Weight, projectile length, magazine and regulator setup |
| 6.35 mm (.25) | Allows the use of larger-diameter and heavier projectiles | Liner, magazine, air consumption and configuration |
| 7.62 mm (.30) | Larger-diameter projectiles with greater mass | Model availability, regulator setup, magazine and air consumption |
Calibre alone does not determine accuracy, useful shooting distance or practical performance. It must be considered alongside the muzzle energy of the exact version, the selected projectile, regulator setup and the rifle’s actual behaviour.
Scopes and mounts for an FX air rifle
The optic should suit the shooting distance, target size and ergonomics of the platform. Magnification, parallax adjustment, reticle, turret adjustment range and scope position all affect practical use.
Check the rifle’s rail, scope-tube diameter, mount height, objective clearance and the position needed to obtain suitable eye relief.
Browse our air rifle scopes and choose the rings and mounts according to the rail, scope-tube diameter, required height and dimensions of the optic.
How do you fill an FX Airguns PCP air rifle?
An FX PCP air rifle requires an external source of high-pressure air. Depending on the capacity of the air cylinder and frequency of use, it may be filled with a high-pressure hand pump, charging cylinder or suitable PCP compressor.
Before filling, always check:
- The maximum permitted fill pressure.
- The required fill probe or connector.
- The condition of the seals.
- That the filling equipment is clean and free from moisture.
- The manufacturer’s instructions for the exact model.
Hand pumps, charging cylinders, high-pressure hoses, filling stations, connectors and adapters are available in our PCP filling equipment and accessories category. For electric filling, compare our PCP compressors for air rifles.
Why is a chronograph useful with an adjustable FX?
A chronograph is not required for the normal operation of a PCP air rifle. It is, however, useful for measuring projectile velocity and assessing the consistency of a shot string when comparing ammunition or changing settings.
When combined with projectile weight, the measured velocity can be used to calculate muzzle energy, identify variations and compare different configurations more objectively.
To measure velocity, calculate muzzle energy and assess the consistency of each setup, browse our ballistic chronographs.
Maintaining an FX Airguns PCP air rifle
Store the air rifle unloaded, secure and dry. Keep the filling port clean, check the condition of the seals and use only care products intended for PCP systems.
Never exceed the manufacturer’s maximum fill pressure. Pressurised air cylinders, regulators and valve components should not be dismantled without following the appropriate procedure. More complex work should be carried out according to the manufacturer’s instructions or by a qualified technician.
There is no universal barrel-cleaning interval. Consider the rifle’s grouping performance, the ammunition used and the maintenance guidance for the particular model.
Accuracy depends on the complete setup
The result delivered by an FX air rifle is not determined by the regulator, liner or barrel alone. Calibre, projectile, pressure, plenum volume, settings, scope, mounts, environmental conditions and shooting technique all work together.
More adjustment does not automatically produce smaller groups. Its value lies in allowing the platform to be matched correctly to a suitable projectile and particular shooting discipline.

Hello, Despite my antivirus alerts, this website is trustworthy. Very competitive prices, excellent communication, and incredibly fast delivery times. I placed an order on December 17, 2025, after contacting them by phone. They were very helpful and did everything they could to ship the package the same day... And indeed, it arrived two days later, on December 19, 2025, at 8:51 a.m. (Shipping from Spain to France, amazing!)

I had the pleasure of purchasing the 150th Anniversary Edition Cometa 400 Fenix at the lowest price I could find online from these kind people. I also indicated that I am passionate about wood and that it would be great if they could send me a nicely figured example. These come with Spanish Walnut stocks. I'm not sure what was done in the background, but I can certainly say my hopes were met on this point!! Excellent communication and overall customer service as I had a few inquiries that were promptly answered. Shipping to France was FAST, easy, and inexpensive. I don't normally write these reviews, but this exceptional service motivated me to do so. I highly recommend this store!
