Choose an air pistol by power system
| Air-pistol type | Main strength | What to consider | View collection |
|---|---|---|---|
| CO₂ | Repeat shots, replicas and Blowback options | Requires CO₂ capsules; temperature can affect performance | CO₂ air pistols |
| PCP | Consistency, low recoil and accuracy | Requires a compatible pump, charging bottle or compressor | PCP air pistols |
| Spring-powered | Self-contained and mechanically straightforward | Normally needs to be cocked before each shot | Spring and gas-ram pistols |
| Gas ram | No CO₂ capsules or PCP charging equipment required | Compare cocking effort, weight and trigger characteristics | Gas-ram air pistols |
How does a CO₂ air pistol work?
A CO₂ air pistol normally uses a carbon-dioxide capsule to propel the projectile. When the trigger is operated, the valve releases a controlled amount of gas that drives the pellet or steel BB through the barrel. There is no need to cock a spring manually or fill a compressed-air reservoir before shooting.
Performance depends on the design of the pistol, ambient temperature, ammunition, seal condition and whether the model incorporates Blowback. Always compare the specifications of the exact product variant rather than choosing solely by its external appearance.
Steel BBs or lead pellets
Not every CO₂ pistol accepts the same ammunition. Some models are designed for steel BBs, others for lead pellets, while selected pistols can use both through a compatible loading system.
| Ammunition | Characteristics | Typical use | What to check |
|---|---|---|---|
| Steel BBs | Spherical projectiles suited to rapid feeding | Replicas, plinking and recreational shooting | Approved barrel, BB size and compatible magazine |
| Lead pellets | Available in different weights and profiles; commonly used in rifled barrels | Accuracy-focused target shooting | Calibre, pellet length and magazine compatibility |
| Dual-ammunition system | Accepts both projectile types when specifically designed to do so | Shooters looking for additional versatility | Use only ammunition approved by the manufacturer |
Blowback and non-Blowback CO₂ pistols
| System | How it works | Main advantage | What to consider |
|---|---|---|---|
| Blowback | Part of the gas moves the slide after each shot | More dynamic operation and more realistic handling | Slide movement uses some of the available CO₂ |
| Non-Blowback | No gas is used to cycle the slide | Straightforward operation and more efficient use of the capsule | Different shooting feel from a Blowback replica |
Blowback describes the movement of the slide. It does not by itself determine the power or accuracy of the pistol. Barrel design, trigger quality, shot consistency, sights, ammunition and shooting technique also affect performance.
What does Full Metal mean?
The term Full Metal is commonly used for models containing a substantial proportion of metal components. It does not necessarily mean that every component is made of metal. The frame, grip panels or internal parts may use polymer or other materials.
A replica with a metal slide may provide a different weight and balance, while polymer components can help reduce overall weight. Always check the material specification of the exact variant.
How to choose a CO₂ air pistol
| Feature | What to check | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Ammunition | Lead pellets, steel BBs or compatibility with both | Determines the barrel, magazine and intended shooting style |
| Calibre | Calibre stated for the selected product variant | Must match the ammunition being used |
| Blowback | Moving slide or fixed-slide design | Affects handling and CO₂ consumption |
| Materials | Slide, frame, grip and overall weight | Influence balance and handling |
| Magazine | Capacity, ammunition type and CO₂-capsule location | Magazines are not interchangeable between every model |
| Sights | Fixed, adjustable or compatible with selected accessories | Help adapt the pistol to its intended application |
| Spare parts | Availability of magazines, seals and compatible accessories | Supports maintenance and long-term use |

CO₂ air-pistol brands
The CARBIN range includes CO₂ pistols and licensed replicas from Gamo, Umarex, Glock, Beretta, SIG Sauer, Smith & Wesson, Crosman, CZ, HK, Norica and other specialist manufacturers.
| Brand group | What you may find | View selection |

| Umarex | Licensed replicas and CO₂ air pistols in several configurations | Umarex CO₂ pistols |

| CZ, HK, Norica and Smith & Wesson | Blowback and non-Blowback models for steel BBs or pellets, depending on the reference | Filter by brand |
Brand alone does not determine the specification. Blowback, metal slides, detachable magazines, rifled barrels and compatible ammunition can vary between models from the same manufacturer.
Accessories for CO₂ air pistols
Consumables and accessories must match the exact pistol, calibre and ammunition type.
- CO₂ capsules: check the required capsule format and manufacturer’s instructions.
- Lead pellets or steel BBs: use only ammunition approved for the pistol.
- Spare magazines: verify the model, generation, calibre and projectile type.
- Targets and pellet traps: select equipment suitable for the ammunition being used.
- Eye protection: recommended whenever the pistol is being used.
- Maintenance products: use products suitable for CO₂ valves and seals.
CO₂ air-pistol maintenance
- Do not store the pistol for extended periods with a pierced CO₂ capsule installed.
- Use only lubricants suitable for the seals in a CO₂ system.
- Do not introduce unsuitable mineral oils into the valve or seals.
- Keep the barrel and magazine clean and free from debris.
- Check seals and moving components periodically.
- Store the pistol unloaded, without ammunition, in a dry and secure place.
Always follow the manufacturer’s instructions. If you notice a gas leak, damaged seals or irregular operation, stop using the pistol until the cause has been assessed.
Guides to choosing an air pistol
Frequently asked questions about CO₂ air pistols
Do all CO₂ air pistols shoot lead pellets?
No. Some models use lead pellets, while others are designed for steel BBs. Selected systems can accept both projectile types. Always follow the ammunition specification provided by the manufacturer.
What is the difference between Blowback and non-Blowback?
A Blowback model uses part of the gas to move the slide. A non-Blowback pistol does not use CO₂ for this movement, so the two systems provide different handling characteristics and gas consumption.
How many shots does a CO₂ capsule provide?
There is no figure that applies to every pistol. Shot count depends on the model, temperature, shooting pace, seal condition and whether the pistol incorporates Blowback.
Is a Full Metal pistol made entirely from metal?
Not necessarily. The term normally indicates a substantial use of metal components, but the frame, grips or internal parts may still use polymer or other materials.
Can a pierced CO₂ capsule be left in the pistol?
It is not advisable to store the pistol for a long period with a pierced capsule installed. Continuous pressure may affect the seals. Follow the manufacturer’s procedure when removing the capsule.
What should I check before buying a spare magazine?
Check the brand, exact model, generation, calibre and ammunition type. Visually similar pistols may require different magazines.

Hello, Despite my antivirus alerts, this website is trustworthy. Very competitive prices, excellent communication, and incredibly fast delivery times. I placed an order on December 17, 2025, after contacting them by phone. They were very helpful and did everything they could to ship the package the same day... And indeed, it arrived two days later, on December 19, 2025, at 8:51 a.m. (Shipping from Spain to France, amazing!)

I had the pleasure of purchasing the 150th Anniversary Edition Cometa 400 Fenix at the lowest price I could find online from these kind people. I also indicated that I am passionate about wood and that it would be great if they could send me a nicely figured example. These come with Spanish Walnut stocks. I'm not sure what was done in the background, but I can certainly say my hopes were met on this point!! Excellent communication and overall customer service as I had a few inquiries that were promptly answered. Shipping to France was FAST, easy, and inexpensive. I don't normally write these reviews, but this exceptional service motivated me to do so. I highly recommend this store!
