PRS and Dynamic Shooting Scopes: Choose an Optic for Your Discipline

A PRS riflescope needs to help you find targets at varying distances, apply reliable corrections and reacquire a target after changing shooting position. Magnification, field of view, reticle, turrets, parallax adjustment and mounting compatibility all matter when choosing the complete setup.

This collection includes scopes from Bushnell, Delta Optical, Kahles, Leica, Leupold and Vortex. It brings together high-magnification optics for precision shooting and low-power models for other dynamic shooting applications. A 1–8× scope serves a different purpose from a 5–25×56 or 6–36×56.

PRS or Other Dynamic Shooting Events: Which Scope Fits?

In Precision Rifle Series (PRS) competition, shooters may engage targets at different distances from a range of positions. Readable reticle references, dependable adjustments and enough field of view to find the next target can be as valuable as high magnification. The highest setting is not necessarily the best one for every stage.

Depending on the selected variants, this collection also includes 1–6×, 1–8× and 1–10× scopes. Their low-end magnification and wider field of view address applications where fast target acquisition is a priority. Judge each model against your particular event rather than assuming it fills the same role as a high-magnification PRS optic.

These ranges describe different uses. Confirm the magnification range and specifications of the exact variant selected on the product page.

First or Second Focal Plane: FFP and SFP

In a first focal plane (FFP) scope, the reticle’s angular references retain their value as magnification changes. This can make it easier to use holds or measure with the reticle at different magnification settings.

In a second focal plane (SFP) scope, the reticle references have their stated angular values at a magnification specified by the manufacturer. An SFP scope may still suit your discipline if you understand when those references are valid.

MIL/MRAD or MOA: Match Your Reticle and Turrets

MIL, also called MRAD, and MOA are angular units used for holds and turret adjustments. Either system can support accurate corrections. Check how the reticle and turrets are graduated on the variant you intend to buy. Matching units make corrections easier to communicate and apply without conversions.

Turrets, Zero Stops and Parallax Adjustment

For precision shooting, look at the readability of the elevation and windage turrets, the feel of their clicks and how consistently they track and return to a previous setting. Some variants provide a zero stop or locking turrets; these features should be checked on the specific product rather than assumed across the collection.

Parallax adjustment allows the scope to be set for distances within the range specified by its manufacturer. Check the minimum adjustment distance and available elevation travel if your use calls for substantial corrections.

A canted scope base can help make elevation travel available in certain rifle-and-scope combinations. Whether it is appropriate depends on the scope, your zero distance and the rifle; it is not a default requirement.

Compare the Model and the Exact Variant

The collection includes models from the Leica PRS, Kahles K525i, Bushnell Elite Tactical XRS3, Vortex Strike Eagle, Vortex Razor HD Gen III, Delta Optical Stryker HD, Delta Optical Javelin and Leupold Mark 5HD families. They cover different configurations and uses, sometimes within the same product listing.

Select the relevant variant before comparing specifications. Check its magnification, focal plane, reticle, turret units, main tube diameter, weight and included accessories. A family name alone does not establish all of these details.

Scope Mounts, Tube Diameter and Ring Height

The mount must fit the rifle or installed rail and the scope’s actual main tube diameter. The external diameter of the objective bell helps determine the required ring height; it does not tell you what ring diameter to buy.
