Choosing the Right MAK Scope Mount

A scope mount is selected by more than just rifle brand or scope tube diameter. It must match the rifle’s mounting interface, the scope’s main tube or integrated rail, and the height required for a natural shooting position.

MAKuick Quick-Release Scope Mounts

MAKuick mounts are designed for users who need to remove and reinstall an optic using a compatible quick-release system. They can be useful when one rifle is used with more than one optic or when the scope is removed for transport or a change of setup.

After reinstalling an optic, check that the mount is correctly seated, follow the manufacturer’s tightening instructions and confirm the scope’s zero at the range. Repeatability depends on the precise compatibility of the rifle, base, mount and optic, as well as correct installation.

MAKlassic Mounts for Riflescopes

MAKlassic mounts are intended for conventional riflescope configurations and defined rifle systems. Depending on the reference, they may be designed for different main tube diameters, mounting heights and base types.

The range includes options for 30 mm and 34 mm main tubes, among other sizes. This measurement refers to the central tube of the riflescope, not its objective bell or eyepiece. Using the wrong diameter can prevent secure clamping or damage the optic.

MAK Mounts for Zeiss Rail, Swarovski Rail and Integrated Rails

Some premium riflescopes are not secured with conventional scope rings around a main tube, but use an integrated rail. These optics require a mount explicitly compatible with the rail profile and with the mounting interface on the rifle.

MAK offers solutions for different integrated rail systems. A Zeiss rail and a Swarovski rail should not be treated as interchangeable unless the manufacturer specifically confirms compatibility. Always consult both the mount and optic specifications.

MAK Bases and Rails for Specific Rifles

A rifle mounting base connects the firearm to the scope mount. MAK produces bases and rails for specific bolt-action rifles, double rifles, break-action rifles and other long-gun systems. These components are not universal: the rifle model, version and mounting pattern must match the selected reference.

Before ordering, identify whether you need a base for scope rings, a Picatinny or Weaver rail, a quick-release mount, an integrated-rail scope or a red dot sight.

MAK Mounts for Red Dot Sights

Red dot sights are often used for driven hunting and moving game, where rapid target acquisition is important. A suitable MAK mount can position the optic at a height appropriate for the rifle and the shooter’s mounting position.

As with a riflescope, check the red dot footprint, rifle base, intended sight height and manufacturer-stated compatibility. Not all red dot sights use the same mounting interface.

Choosing the Correct Mount Height

Mount height should allow a natural head position while providing adequate clearance between the riflescope, barrel and rifle. A mount that is too low can cause interference, while one that is unnecessarily high can make a consistent cheek weld more difficult.

Objective diameter is not the only consideration. Stock shape, barrel profile, base, optic and any additional equipment also affect the required height. Two scopes with the same main tube diameter do not necessarily need the same mount height.

Checklist Before Buying a MAK Mount

• Rifle: manufacturer, exact model, version and existing mounting interface.
• Optic: main-tube riflescope, integrated-rail riflescope or red dot sight.
• Tube diameter: 30 mm, 34 mm or another measurement specified by the optic manufacturer.
• Interface: dedicated base, Picatinny, Weaver, Zeiss rail, Swarovski rail or another compatible system.
• Mount height: required clearance and a comfortable shooting position.
• Intended use: driven hunting, stalking, high-seat hunting, target shooting or switching between optics.
