APEL EAW Scope Mounts for Hunting Rifles

APEL EAW scope mounts are German-made systems engineered to create a precise, stable and dependable connection between a rifle and its optic. The range includes pivot mounts, scope rings, mounting bases, rails, front and rear feet, adapters and other components for different rifle and scope combinations.

Choosing the correct APEL EAW rifle scope mount requires more than knowing the scope tube diameter. You must also check the exact rifle model, its available mounting interface, the mounting system, the scope tube or integrated rail, the required mounting height and the intended application.

APEL EAW Pivot Mounts

The APEL EAW pivot mount is a well-established mounting system for hunting rifles. It allows a scope to be removed and refitted using compatible front and rear mounting components.

This system is particularly useful when the optic must be removed for transport or rifle maintenance, or when several compatible optics are prepared for the same firearm. Repeatability depends on the correct selection, installation and adjustment of every component. The point of impact should always be checked after removing and refitting an optic.

Mounting Bases, Front Feet and Rear Feet

A pivot mounting system may require a specific combination of front base, rear base, front foot, rear foot and scope rings or a support for an integrated scope rail. These components must not be selected separately: they must belong to the same system and be compatible with both the rifle and the optic.

Before choosing an APEL EAW mounting base, check the rifle manufacturer, exact model, version, action type and available attachment points. Two rifles belonging to the same model family may require different references.

APEL EAW Scope Rings for 1-Inch, 30, 34 and 36 mm Tubes

APEL EAW scope rings must match the riflescope tube diameter exactly. This category includes solutions for 1-inch (25.4 mm), 30 mm, 34 mm and 36 mm scope tubes, together with mounts for optics equipped with an integrated rail.

The scope tube diameter must not be confused with the objective diameter. The tube determines the required ring diameter, while the actual outside diameter of the objective bell affects the mounting height needed to provide clearance above the barrel, receiver, iron sights and other parts of the rifle.

APEL EAW Mounts for Picatinny and Weaver Rails

The APEL EAW range includes mounts, rings, bases and rails for Picatinny and Weaver configurations. Although these two rail standards look similar, their cross slots and recoil lugs can have different dimensions.

A Weaver component should not automatically be assumed to fit every Picatinny rail, or vice versa. Compatibility must always be confirmed from the technical specifications of the individual rail, rings and mount.

Mounts for Zeiss and Swarovski Integrated Rails

Some premium hunting scopes are secured using an integrated Zeiss or Swarovski rail instead of conventional scope rings. These optics require a support that is compatible with both the scope rail and the mounting system fitted to the rifle.

Mounts and adapters are also available for red dot sights with specific mounting footprints, including selected Docter-pattern optics. Zeiss, Swarovski, Docter, Weaver and Picatinny identify different mounting interfaces and should not be treated as scope tube measurements.

APEL Blue Line and Other EAW Mounting Systems

The APEL Blue Line range includes scope rings, mounts, bases and feet for different configurations. These include solutions for Picatinny and Weaver rails and for scopes equipped with an integrated mounting rail.

The collection also contains steel and aluminium rails, adapters, pivot-mount components and replacement parts. Before combining components from different product families, confirm that the manufacturer expressly states that they are compatible. Two parts are not necessarily interchangeable simply because both are manufactured by APEL EAW.

What Does BH Mean on an APEL EAW Mount?

On APEL EAW products, BH identifies the construction or mounting height of a component in millimetres. References such as BH5, BH10, BH17 or BH20 distinguish different heights within a particular mount or scope-ring family.

The BH value does not automatically represent the total clearance between the scope and the barrel. Correct selection also depends on the measurement datum, the height of the base or rail, the outside diameter of the objective bell, the shape of the barrel and receiver and any additional accessories.

Our guide to APEL EAW mounting heights and compatibility explains how to interpret BH measurements, calculate the necessary clearance and compare the different mounting systems before choosing a product reference.

How to Choose an APEL EAW Scope Mount

  1. Identify the rifle: manufacturer, exact model, version, action and attachment points.
  2. Check the rifle interface: dedicated mounting bases, Picatinny rail, Weaver rail or another system.
  3. Identify the optic: tubular riflescope, scope with an integrated rail, red dot sight or another compatible device.
  4. Confirm the measurement: exact scope tube diameter or integrated rail type.
  5. Determine the mounting height: use the actual dimensions of the scope, base, rifle and mount.
  6. Define the application: fixed, detachable or pivot mount, or use with interchangeable optics.

Modular and pivot mounting systems may require several mutually compatible components. Before ordering, check the complete references for the rifle, optic and every part of the mounting system.

APEL EAW Mounts for Red Dot and Thermal Optics

Selected APEL EAW configurations can be used with compatible red dot sights, thermal optics and other sighting devices. In these cases, check the device footprint or interface, the required adapter, the final mounting height and the space available on the rifle.

When alternating between a daytime riflescope and another device, each optic must have a mounting solution prepared for that particular setup. A mount intended for a conventional riflescope should not be assumed to accept every red dot or thermal sight directly.

Installing and Adjusting an APEL EAW Mount

Installation must be carried out with the rifle completely unloaded, using suitable tools and following the instructions for the exact product reference. Tightening torques are not universal and can vary according to the screws, materials, bases, rings and optic.

If the riflescope manufacturer specifies a lower maximum torque than the mount manufacturer, follow the lower value. Excessive torque can damage the scope tube or threads, while insufficient torque can allow unwanted movement.

Eye relief, reticle alignment and clearance around the scope must also be checked. Multi-component pivot mounts may require professional fitting and adjustment. If the required specifications or tools are unavailable, installation should be entrusted to a qualified gunsmith.

Common Mistakes When Choosing an APEL Mount

  • Selecting scope rings from the objective diameter instead of the scope tube diameter.
  • Interpreting a BH value without checking its measurement datum.
  • Confusing an optical mounting interface with a scope tube measurement.
  • Assuming that Weaver and Picatinny are always interchangeable.
  • Failing to check the exact rifle model and version.
  • Combining components without confirming that they belong to the same system.
  • Mounting the scope too low or unnecessarily high.
  • Applying a generic tightening torque without consulting the manufacturers.

Frequently Asked Questions About APEL EAW Scope Mounts

What does BH mean on an APEL EAW mount?

BH identifies the construction or mounting height of a component in millimetres. To interpret it correctly, check the measurement datum shown in the technical drawing or product specification. It does not necessarily represent the total distance between the scope and barrel.

Which APEL EAW mount fits my rifle?

You need the rifle manufacturer, exact model and version, its available mounting interface, the optic type, scope tube diameter or integrated rail and the required mounting height. Pivot systems also require compatibility between their bases, feet and optic supports.

Are Weaver and Picatinny mounts compatible?

Not in every case. The two systems look similar, but their cross slots and recoil lugs can have different dimensions. Compatibility must be checked for the specific rail, scope rings and mount.

Can I remove and refit a scope fitted to an APEL EAW pivot mount?

Compatible pivot mounts are designed to allow the optic to be removed and refitted. Repeatability depends on correct component selection, installation and adjustment. The point of impact should be checked after refitting the scope.

Which APEL scope-ring diameter do I need?

The internal ring diameter must match the riflescope tube exactly, such as 1 inch, 30 mm, 34 mm or 36 mm. The objective diameter does not determine the required ring diameter.

What tightening torque should be used on an APEL EAW mount?

There is no single value suitable for every reference. Follow the instructions supplied by EAW and the riflescope manufacturer. If they specify different maximum torque values, use the lower figure.

How do I choose the correct mounting height?

Consider the BH value and its measurement datum, the base or rail height, the outside diameter of the objective bell, the barrel profile and the stock ergonomics. The scope should be mounted as low as practical without touching any part of the rifle.

I had the pleasure of purchasing the 150th Anniversary Edition Cometa 400 Fenix at the lowest price I could find online from these kind people. I also indicated that I am passionate about wood and that it would be great if they could send me a nicely figured example. These come with Spanish Walnut stocks. I'm not sure what was done in the background, but I can certainly say my hopes were met on this point!! Excellent communication and overall customer service as I had a few inquiries that were promptly answered. Shipping to France was FAST, easy, and inexpensive. I don't normally write these reviews, but this exceptional service motivated me to do so. I highly recommend this store!
