Vibram Fourà

Used across many mid-height models, this outsole is intended to balance traction, stability and dirt shedding on woodland and wet ground.

Curcuma Megagrip

Tornado, Vortex and Himalaya combine it with protective constructions to provide grip across wet and dry surfaces.

Zegama Megagrip

Utah, Oregon and Missouri pair it with a 14 cm shaft and reduced weight to balance mobility and traction on rock or mixed terrain.

Shaft height and stiffness

A high shaft offers more coverage and support; a lower cut frees movement. Medium stiffness gives more support, while a softer construction follows the stride more readily.

Weight

The range runs from about 500 g for low-cut models to 900 g for Colorado. Weight should always be judged alongside the required protection and intended use.

I had the pleasure of purchasing the 150th Anniversary Edition Cometa 400 Fenix at the lowest price I could find online from these kind people. I also indicated that I am passionate about wood and that it would be great if they could send me a nicely figured example. These come with Spanish Walnut stocks.
