CO2 Loads: Efficient Reloading for Compressed Air Weapons

There are mainly two types of CO₂ charges used in compressed air pistols and rifles:

12 gram CO₂ loads: These are the most common and used in CO₂ pistols, revolvers and some rifles. They are inserted into the pistol compartment and allow between 40 and 80 shots to be fired, depending on the model and conditions of use.
88 gram or 90 gram CO₂ loads: These are larger cartridges, designed for air rifles and paintball markers. They can provide up to 250 shots on a single charge.
Some weapon models use adapters to allow the use of charges of different sizes, depending on the required range.

The duration of a CO₂ charge depends on several factors, such as gun model, valve type, and ambient temperature. On average:

12 gram capsules: Allow between 40 and 80 shots, although pistols with blowback (realistic recoil) consume more gas and reduce the number of shots per charge.
88-90 gram capsules: Their duration can vary between 200 and 250 shots, depending on the power of the weapon and the valve system.
It is important not to leave a CO₂ charge installed for long periods, as it can deteriorate the internal seals of the weapon.

CO₂ charges are made of sealed steel at high pressure, with a liquid and compressed carbon dioxide content inside.

Each capsule is single-use, so they cannot be refilled or reused. By piercing the capsule inside the weapon, the gas is progressively released until it is exhausted. For its manufacture, hermetic sealing processes and pressure tests are used to ensure user safety.

For responsible disposal, it is advisable to recycle empty capsules as metal scrap at a suitable collection point.

CO₂ is a high-pressure gas, so it is important to follow these precautions when handling loads:

Do not expose them to extreme temperatures: Excessive heat can increase internal pressure and cause leaks or even explosion of the capsule.
Do not pierce them outside the weapon: The capsules are designed to release the gas in a controlled manner inside the weapon. Piercing them with other methods can be dangerous.
Do not inhale the gas: CO₂ will displace oxygen if released in an enclosed space, which can cause asphyxiation in unventilated environments.
Do not store them in humid places: Humidity can cause corrosion in the capsule, weakening its structure and creating risks when using them.
Replace the gun seals periodically: Keeping the gun's rubber seals in good condition will prevent gas leaks and prolong its useful life.
