Gamo Fixed Barrel Air Rifles – Precision and Power in Every Shot

What does a fixed barrel mean on a Gamo air rifle?

On a break-barrel air rifle, the barrel itself acts as the cocking lever. The CFX and CFR models in this selection use an underlever beneath the barrel, so the barrel does not pivot during cocking.

“Fixed barrel” describes the construction and cocking arrangement, rather than the powerplant. A fixed-barrel air rifle can therefore use either a conventional coil spring or an IGT gas ram.

This construction alone does not guarantee greater accuracy. The condition of the rifle, suitable ammunition, the trigger, the sights and the shooter’s technique also affect the result.

Compare Gamo fixed-barrel models

The differences between these versions go beyond their names. The powerplant and stock material help distinguish them, while the exact equipment should be checked in the specifications of the selected variant.

Check the available calibre, weight, overall length, trigger and included accessories for each product. The model name does not replace the specifications of the particular version you intend to buy.

Spring-piston or IGT: two fixed-barrel options

Gamo CFX and CFX Royal spring-piston models

These versions use a coil spring to drive the piston that compresses the air. They are self-contained systems and do not require CO₂ cartridges or external filling equipment.

The firing cycle involves piston movement and mechanical vibration. Weight, ergonomics and cocking effort are therefore worth considering alongside your preference for a synthetic or wooden stock.

Gamo CFX IGT and CFR Whisper IGT

IGT, Inert Gas Technology, replaces the conventional coil spring with a sealed gas ram. The rifle is still cocked manually and does not need the filling equipment required by a PCP.

IGT changes the mechanical firing cycle, but it does not eliminate piston movement or all recoil. To compare this technology across other barrel configurations, explore the Gamo IGT air rifles.

How to choose a Gamo fixed-barrel air rifle

As well as the powerplant, compare the features that affect handling:

• Weight and overall length: these should suit the shooter and the intended shooting position.
• Cocking effort: consider the force needed to operate the underlever comfortably.
• Stock: compare dimensions, grip shape and material, as well as the finish.
• Trigger: check the fitted mechanism and any adjustments permitted by the manufacturer.
• Sights and equipment: confirm what is supplied with the selected version.
• Calibre: choose the appropriate variant and use only the ammunition specified for it.

The selection includes versions in 4.5 mm (.177) and 5.5 mm (.22). Check muzzle energy and velocity for the exact variant; neither should be assumed from the calibre or model name alone.

Open sights and scopes for Gamo CFX and CFR air rifles

A fixed-barrel air rifle does not automatically require a scope. The Gamo CFX has fibre-optic sights. For other versions, check the sighting equipment listed in the product specifications.

If you prefer a scope, check the rifle’s mounting rail, the mount dimensions and the optic’s suitability for the firing cycle of a spring-piston or gas-ram air rifle. Compatibility should be supported by the manufacturer’s specifications.

Browse our air rifle scopes to compare suitable options. Also confirm whether the scope and mounts are included in the package or sold separately.

Pellets for Gamo fixed-barrel air rifles

Choose pellets in the exact calibre and type approved by the manufacturer. The same nominal diameter does not make diabolo pellets, steel BBs and other projectiles interchangeable.

In our Gamo pellets category, you can compare pellet shapes, weights and pack quantities. Check the specifications of each product and avoid using damaged or deformed pellets.

How does this category relate to Gamo Standard?

A model can appear in more than one category when those categories describe different features. This page groups rifles by their fixed-barrel construction. The Gamo Standard air rifle selection covers traditional spring-piston configurations and can therefore also include the CFX Royal.
