What is Gamo IGT technology?

IGT stands for Inert Gas Technology. It is a powerplant in which a sealed gas strut replaces the coiled mainspring used in a conventional spring-piston air rifle.

Breaking the barrel compresses the gas strut and cocks the action. When the trigger is released, the system drives the piston forwards. The piston compresses the air in the cylinder, and this compressed air propels the pellet along the barrel.

The operating sequence remains familiar to anyone accustomed to a break-barrel rifle, but the gas ram changes the feel of the shot. Its cycle can feel more direct and does not include the characteristic oscillation of a metal coil spring.
