Steiner Nighthunter H35 Thermal Monocular
The prestigious German optics manufacturer Steiner has just presented in June 2021 its first commercial thermal observation riflescope, the Steiner H35 Nighthunter. The new Steiner H35 Nighthunter combines today's market-leading sensor with a high-quality display and software specifically optimized for its launch alongside the Steiner H35 Nighthunter. In addition, the new Steiner thermal unit combines these characteristics together with great usability, ergonomics and the already classic robustness of the devices manufactured by Steiner.
Buying the Steiner H35 Nighthunter is a guarantee of extraordinary performance, based on cutting-edge technology. Steiner has based the development of its H35 Nighthunter thermal monocular on 5 basic pillars:
Steiner QuantumVision
It's the result of an ultra-efficient marriage between a spectacular 640x512 thermal sensor and a Steiner-optimized software algorithm that translates the sensor's readings at top speed to the high-resolution LCOS display where it displays images for the hunter's eye.
Buying thermal Steiner Nighthunter H35 is therefore an excellent option if you are looking for maximum image fluidity and resolution.

Durability
The Steiner H35 thermal is contained in the classic Steiner casing made of Makrolon. Makrolon is a polymer from the polycarbonate family with excellent properties in terms of durability, shock absorption, resistance and even flame retardancy. In addition, the Steiner heater has the IP67 water resistance standard.
Made for continuous use
Steiner has always been clear that a device with these characteristics should be tested to the extreme, which is why its casing and controls have been subjected to harsh durability tests and it has been provided with an appropriate case and high-quality accessories.
Performance
The Steiner H35 Nighthunter thermal still offers elite optical performance, along with ergonomics designed for everyday use. All this, together with its wide range of temperatures in which it can be used and its battery with an approximate duration of 4.5 hours, make it a top thermal.
Going in depth into the most technical aspects of the new Steiner H35 Nighthunter, the union of concepts that forms its new Quantum Vision technology, is made up of 3 fundamental pillars.
The thermal sensor
A 640x512 thermal sensor that is among the largest on the market in its price range, capable of capturing thermal sources with maximum speed, precision and sharpness within the field of view. In addition, the sensor has a reduced pitch or distance between pixel centers of 12 μm / microns, thus surpassing many current models on the market whose sensors are 17 μm / microns. These two features make it possible to capture very sharp and detailed images even in the worst conditions.
As an added feature, the Steiner H35 has an optimized image output thanks to its self-calibration function.
In addition, its 50 Hz refresh rate allows you to maintain a fluid image even of moving objects or animals.
Steiner's algorithm
Steiner has put special emphasis on the threads that hold the entire monocular assembly together. This "virtual" cable that receives, processes and sends information is the agorithm. The algorithm is internal information processing and handling programs that obtain the data from the thermal sensor and process it at the maximum possible speed, which makes obtaining a perfect image possible.
Fast data processing and thermal sensitivity also optimize contrast, so with the new Steiner Nighthunter H35 you can see with certainty in environments where others assume.
The customizable data output is the screen. The algorithm obtains data from the sensor, processes it and sends it to the screen, where you can choose between a 1-8 zoom, PiP (Picture In Picture) technology, various color palettes, and various added functions such as a rangefinder stadometric.
The Display / Screen
The screen must provide comfortable observation that allows the thermal to be used for hours without causing great visual fatigue, which is why Steiner has paid special attention to this component, equipping it with a top-quality LCOS screen with user-adjustable brightness. The screen has a resolution of 1280x960, it is wide and it has a very user-friendly data layout.
Changing the third in terms of usability, the Steiner H35 Nighthunter has a 5-button interface and a well-structured menu in Spanish, which makes its use fast and intuitive.
In addition, the new Steiner allows the capture of photos and video, as well as streaming to a second device through WiFi connectivity.
As far as detection capacity is concerned, the German manufacturer Steiner divides it into three categories: Detection, Recognition and Identification. Basically this means at what distance we can detect a heat source, at what distance we can recognize what it is and at what distance we could differentiate two specimens of the same species.
| Detection | Recognition | Identification |
Deer | 2600m | 650m | 370m |
Roe deer | 1850m | 350m | 200m |
The ergonomics of the device is another important factor during long periods of use such as a counting night or a population or predator control day, which is why Steiner has used its ergoflex eyepiece and a noise-reducing, non-slip and elegant design in Nighthunter.
Regarding the functions of the Steiner H35 Nighthunter thermal, it is worth highlighting its 10-level brightness and contrast adjustment, along with the ability to smoothly zoom in on the image up to 8x, as well as the possibility of activating or deactivating the image enhancement algorithm.
The image display modes are support, enhanced, highlight, natural and 3 scene mode. It also has a palette of 5 filters applicable to the image, among which are hot white, hot black, iron red, hot blue and adjustable hot red.
Other added features present in the monocular are the ability to take photos, videos, broadcast video, Hot Spot Tracking, the stadiametric rangefinder to approximate distances, PiP (Picture in Picture) technology that allows you to display a frame in screen with the zoom applied on it. To all this we must add the multilingual menu support and energy saving and auto power off functions.
Finally, in the aspect related to the hardness of the Steiner Nighthunter H35 thermal, a good part of it is based on its Makrolon structure, a high-resistance polymer capable of absorbing shocks, having great durability and also being water and flame repellent. anti-slip etc. These characteristics make a perfect tandem with the case specially designed for it, as well as its high-quality accessories.
As far as connectivity is concerned, this heater has a USB 2.0 type C interface, a micro HDMI video output and WiFi for Streaming and communication with the Steiner Connect App available for Android and iOS, as well as a storage memory 16GB internal.
As far as the guarantee is concerned, the device has a 2-year guarantee from the date of purchase and in case of having to make use of it, the parts will be inspected and repaired in Germany by Steiner within a reasonable period of time.
The weight of the Steiner Nighthunter H35 is 695 grams and its dimensions are 232x70x72.
