Why different sizes of M.O.A?

What is an M.O.A?

The dot in the red dot optics is measured in MOA, which stands for "minutes of angle", a unit for angular measurement of a circle. 1 MOA equals 1" at 100 yards = 3 cm at 100 metres, this means that the size of the dot will appear to be 1 inch in diameter on a target at 100 yards.

2 MOA

The spot size will appear to be 1 inch in diameter on a target at 100 yards. 

If necessary, you can increase the intensity to superimpose the dot, making it appear slightly larger. The target will be easy to see.

4 MOA

The 4 MOA red dot offers a perfect balance between close-up shooting capability as well as the ability to engage targets from a distance while maintaining accuracy. The 4 MOA red dot could also be a solution if you have difficulty seeing the smaller 2 MOA dot as round.

6 MOA

For close, fast targets where the shooter can only get a split second to line up a shot, the 6 MOA dot is the optimal choice. The dot is large, bright and easy to find encouraging fast target acquisition at all times. Perfect for IPSC disciplines, dog handlers, etc.

When to adjust the intensity of the red dot and its effects?

"Adjusting the intensity of the red dot can result in even apparent change. Some shooters prefer to increase the red dot intensity in situations where extremely fast moving targets require extremely fast target acquisition. Similarly, decreasing the intensity can make the red dot appear smaller and offer better accuracy for longer shots"

Aimpoint does not change the size of its red dots with variations in intensity.

In summary, each model of Aimpoint has an area of application and weapons of application, but the size of the red dot depends on the use and shots that we usually do, as well as our tastes.
