Ideal para la práctica de la caza a corta distancia, gracias su poco peso y tamaño es de los más manejables permite apuntar y disparar de forma rápida. Con este rifle se puede disparar tanto calibre, 38 especial como 357 mágnum, con el calibre 357 Mágnum se puede abatir a un jabalí. El Marlin 1894CB posee un cargador en forma de tubo en el que se puede almacenar hasta 10 cartuchos, permitiendo realizar esta cantidad de disparos en intervalos cortos. De esta manera el cazador consigue una ventaja notable cuando se presentan simultáneamente varias reses, como ocurre en las batidas. El cañón del Marlin 1894CB posee un acabado pavonado negro azulado que lo protege contra la humedad o los arañazos. La culata y el guardamanos de esta arma están fabricados con madera de nogal.
